First aid & Trauma care Course

Crucible’s new First Aid & Trauma Course was developed to provide students with the most comprehensive field first aid training possible in just 8 hours. This is a scenario based course with lots of hands on.

This course is open to current students, and non-students. No experience is necessary, and no medical equipment is required for this course.  All training gear will be provided to you during the course. A small first aid kit may be given out at the course for you to take with you.

This course has two distinct parts: First Aid & Trauma Care

FIRST AID TOPICS WILL INCLUDE

  • Scene assessment

  • Getting help

  • Finding the problem

  • Breathing problems

  • Choking

  • Allergic reactions

  • Heart Attacks

  • CPR and AED’s

  • Fainting

  • Diabetes and low blood sugar

  • Strokes

  • Seizures

  • Wound care

  • Broken bones and sprains

  • Burns, Bites, Stings and Poison

  • Heat and cold related emergencies

TRAUMA CARE TOPICS WILL INCLUDE

  • Situation Awareness

  • Response to active shooter situation

  • Breakdown and usage of IFAK (Individual 1st Aid Kits)

  • Basic 1st Aid and Advanced Trauma wound care

  • Application of Gauze & bandages

  • Moving and positioning victims with injuries

  • Proper use of cover, and cover vs. concealment

  • Casualty recovery in Active Shooter situations

  • Mass casualty triage procedures and trauma scene management

  • Hemorrhage control, Hemorrhagic Shock
